#18

#18 - Brokeback Mountain (2005) Ang Lee's beautifully well done movie shows that love has no face. The two main characters Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) work together and fall in love, simple as that....except that they are men who cannot tell anyone of their love. The movie follows their hidden love through 19 years, even when they marry. This movie really shows how love no matter what type keeps you connected to the ones you love. It just so happens that these two men were cowboys and to keep up their macho exterior so they decided to keep what they had in the closet, so to speak. The acting is amazing and it was a shock that this movie did not win best picture in 2005. It was however nominated for 8 Oscars, and won best director (Ang Lee), Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score, and Best Writing- Adapted Screenplay. Ledger and Gyllenhaal were up for best actor and Michelle Williams was up for best supporting actress. If you cannot feel for the two main characters you have never been love.
