Tim Burton's new video

I know I get on Tim Burton for not really having an original idea, at least since 2005 Corpse Bride, not like that was a great movie but at least it was his . We could look at his long line of remakes or re-imaging of older properties (ok, we will):

Batman and Batman Returns (comic book and TV show) (1989 & 1992)

Ed Wood (based on actual events, Plan 9 From Outer Space) (1994)

Mars Attacks! (cards and comics) (1996)

Sleepy Hollow (book, cartoon, movie) (1999)

Planet of the Apes (tons of movies before) (2001)

Big Fish (based off a book) (2003)

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (book and movie) (2005)

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (long standing musical) (2007)

Alice In Wonderland (book and movies) (2010)

Dark Shadows (TV show) (2012)

Frankenweenie (remaking his own short story) (2012)

Ok so I haven't seen Frankenweenie yet but I have heard good things. I am in no way saying I do not enjoy his remakes or re imaginings just saying Mr. Burton I want some original stories. I have really liked his Batman movies, Sleepy Hollow, Ed Wood, and Sweeney Todd. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish, and Alice In Wonderland were pretty good and I didn't care for Mars Attacks!, Planet of the Apes, or Dark Shadows.

We know you can do it, look at Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, or even Nightmare Before Christmas (based off his story) those are great movies. We know you can remake stuff but I would like to see what you can do with some material you make yourself. Take for example this Killers video I found out he directed. He has his old pal Winona Ryder back in it and I really like seeing Burton doing something new. Hope we can get more movies from his mind soon. I really dug this new video.

I agree! He should do something original again. Edward Scissorhands is such a good one!

I always think it is better to do something original but I also feel Burton's name will sell a movie regardless if the film is original or not - so that might be one of the reasons for the re-makes, etc. I'd like to see a re-make and an original film released at the same time by Burton but without mentioning his name in the opening credits or in the title of the film itself and then see which one ends up doing better. Is that asking too much? lol

I've ranted about this guy before and haven't really liked anything he has done. Always thought he was given cult cred way too easily. Hack.
