Not A Moral Victory Type Of Guy

49ers recent two game road trip turned out bad. Yes the team did make both games close, but a loss is a loss. The first game they were down 21-0 at halftime and looked like they had no shot and being in the game much less sustaining a drive that would produce any points. After halftime Mike Singeltary made a quarterback switch and Alex Smith came in. I really felt we never were going to win, even after he lead the team to three touchdown drives. Smiths' play along that with Vernon Davis were really the only highlights. Smith has had a lot of time off and showed the skill set that got him taken #1 overall. Sorry, Alex but you should be better...#1 picks should be franchise savers. Not to say you are not adequate (last week you were okay) but #1 picks should be saviors for the franchise. This just leads me to believe whoever drafted Smith is to blame. 49ers could have sat him down a few years and let him learn, but instead he started right away and didn't have a good mentor quarterback to learn from, sorry Tim Rattay. I am just hoping all the time off gave him enough time to forget the injuries and move on and maybe be as good as he can be.

Last week the 49ers defense stepped up and really showed what they could do. They had a bend but not break attitude but the offense was almost nowhere to be seen. The 49ers basically had a long td run by Frank Gore and one sustained offense drive. Smith looked average, he had some good plays, his arm looks back to full strength. Him and Michael Crabtree are building a rapport, something that is really needed. I couldn't quite understand why the offense cannot sustain a longer drive. The offense line has regressed, they are not run blocking nearly as well as the last few years. That's especially tough when the niners consider themselves a running team. The final was 18-14 Colts. We played an undefeated team on the road and almost came up with a win. I am wondering when those close games will go in our favor. To be honest I am not sure if that will happen this year.

So we started out 3-1 and have lost 3 straight, mostly against good teams. The Colts (7-0), Texans (5-3), and the Falcons (4-3). If they don't start turning it around soon I am not sure if this season will be saved. I really HOPE they do, but I am starting to really felt let down. This team can hang around with some of the good teams but they lack in some very important areas. I thought Singeltary would be the difference in turning them around.

I'm taking a gamble starting Smith on my Fantasy Football Team against the Titans ... but I think if 49ers can just stop NFL Rushing Leader Chris Johnson (also on my team)then they have good chance to win.

As far as Gore goes... the loss of Staley hurts bad....

After todays game, the guy cannot make accurate passes, he constantly missed check down guys throwing the ball way over their heads and what is worse is that he is just not a winner, he doesnt have a winning attitude. Not all his fault of course, but he cannnot usually avoid the rush. Let him play out the remainder of the year and then part ways, unless he has some miracle turn around...i am done with him and the niners are all but done for the 2009 season, sad...
